Native FREE Tree Giveaway
Tree saplings have arrived! - contact the Bayou Operations office to make arrangements.
(337) 769-7283
Every January, the Bayou Operations office, in partnership with TreesAcadiana, purchases
native tree saplings. These tree saplings are available at no cost to Lafayette Parish residents.
The best time to plant trees is in the winter, so contact us early in the season to get the trees you
want and get them in the ground while it is still chilly outside!
Our goal is to increase erosion prevention and improve water quality in Acadiana. In February
of 2010, volunteers from TreesAcadiana, Bayou Vermilion District, AmeriCorp, Bridge
Ministry, Beau Chene Environmental Club, Boy Scouts of America members, and many
community individuals, potted 1200 tree seedlings. Pots were donated by Rusty Ruckstuhl of
Grassroots Landscapes.
We rely on volunteers to get these bare-root saplings into pots. If you have a club,
organization, or school group and are looking for fun volunteer opportunities, give us a call!
